Wristwatch “Ollo” by Museo Alchimia Alessandro Mendini, Italy, 1990
Alessandro Mendini "Ollo" watch with the iconic minimal black eyes and mouth design on the watch's face. Stamped "Museo Alchimia" on the metal back case. Dusty pink silicone strap with plastic face, metal, pink and gold colored hands and a stainless steel back. This is a manual wind watch and was a prototype for the Swatch, the Swiss watch company for which Mendini designed several watches.
The ritual of the winding in the manual wind timepiece adds special character to an already memorable design. The smooth silicone strap is pleasing on the wrist, from which the comical and yet somehow understated surprised expression in the face design looks up at you from behind time.
A fun and chic minimal timepiece that is a remarkable punctuation to a wardrobe.
