ETTORE SOTTSASS (1917 – 2007) was an Italian architect and designer who played a quintessential role in the radical design movements of the 20th century. Founder of the Memphis movement in 1981, he brought to the fore values eclipsed by functionalism. His masterful use of color and architecture techniques characterizes his work. His oeuvre includes furniture, jewelry, glass, lighting, home objects and office machine design, as well as many buildings and interiors.
