SHOHEI MIHARA (1947-Born in Miharu Town, Fukushima) is a leading postmodern Japanese designer yet little known outside of Japan. First highly criticized like his soul-brothers and sisters of the Memphis Group, his work for Wakita is now a landmark of Japanese Design History and is regarded with a different perspective. He studied Industrial Design at Tokyo Zokei University Design Department  where he graduated in 1970. He started to work as a freelance designer in 1974 and taught industrial design in Japan from 2003 to 2013. His work has been internationally awarded and exhibited since 1976. Today Shohei is operating from Mihara Design Office in Tokyo, continuing to ignite change in design.
