Elegant post-modern Italian table lamp titled "Ampoule" by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce. With its thick glass dome shade, two bulbs and metal base, it is an homage to the light bulb as the French title "Ampoule" suggests. Now out of production, few were made in Italy in 1983 when Martinelli was still active. He was designing still then, driving the company after 40 years. Two PL 7w bulbs. 220v

ELIO MARTINELLI (born in Italy, 1921-2004) graduated as stage designer at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence. After experiences in stage design in the 1950s, he started his own company Martinelli Luce, focusing on lighting for hospitality. Martinelli’s style, inspired by nature’s simplicity and geometry, combined with his constant search for new techniques and materials, quickly made of Martinelli Luce an influential actor in the Italian lighting landscape. Multi-awarded, Martinelli Luce received international recognition and commercial success.
