Metal and Glass Sculptural Black Pendant by RON REZEK, USA 1990s

$1,200.00

Black metal pyramid pendant with glass diffuser designed by Ron Rezek in the 1990s. A cast iron half sphere within a pyramid, floating like a UFO. Primary geometric shapes combined in a post-modern style that feels like a more elegant, mature version of the Memphis style. This is an ambitious and functional design by a discreet master that shows American proficiency in post-modern lighting with specific engineered parts.

Ron Rezek was a student of Charles Eames and Henry Dreyfuss. He started his own lighting company in 1978 and sold it in 2004 to the cult Italian company Artemide, which still produces some of his designs. He also designed for Herman Miller and Design Within Reach. This pendant was produced by his own company Ron Rezek Lighting Co when he was the only owner, a gem from an unsung hero of American design.
