1980s Lacquered Jewelry Box by Hollis Fingold, Handmade painted wood, Signed USA
Regular price$600.00 Sale priceBlue Lacquered box handmade in the 1980s by Hollis Fingold at Radar Design in Denver, Colorado. Airbrushed paint on wood. Signed. Depth: 4.5", Width: 4.5", Height: 6.75".
This box is an example of the non-conformity and ever-expanding artistic language of American artist Hollis Fingold. It is characterized by its night blue and electric royal blue tones airbrushed to look like a cloudy mountain skyline pattern. A splash of glitter on the lid and oblique black stripes on the handle complete the artwork's charisma. A metallic purple border accentuates the separation from the body of the box. The interior padding's fabric is entirely airbrushed with the same pattern as the exterior.
Shaped like alien pets, Hollis Fingold's boxes appear to hover on their four pointy legs, with lid handles resembling punk hairdos. They are sensuous yet dangerous creatures that one must adore to tame and open.
